Amino Acid Sequence of a Mouse Myeloma Immunoglobin Heavy Chain (MOPC 47A) with a loo-Residue Deletion*

Comparison of this sequence to the sequences of other, nondeleted human (Y chains and mouse y2a chains reveals that there are no deletions in the variable region (residues 1 to 115), the first domain of the constant region, Cal (residues 116 to 217), the hinge region (residues 218 to 240), or the CH~ domain (residues 241 to 330). However, the entire CH~ domain has been deleted. The failure of immunoglobulin 47A to form four-chain molecules and the unusual presence of a covalent light-heavy chain bond both appear to be related to the absence of the &3 domain.
